ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Kerry A. Bartlett, MBA, CFRE
With more than 25 years of experience in the philanthropic sector, Kerry A. Bartlett, CFRE, MBA is recognized as a passionate and principled nonprofit leader with extensive experience in fundraising campaigns, planned giving, Board development, strategic planning and organizational culture.
Kerry joined the Carter team in 2014, translating her professional experience to the field of nonprofit consulting. Her work with Carter has focused specifically on board governance, strategic planning, organizational assessments and capital campaigns. She is also a member of the planning study and development audit teams.
Prior to joining Carter, Kerry worked at the Visiting Nurse Association of the Treasure Coast in Vero Beach, FL serving as the Vice President of the VNA and Hospice Foundation. Kerry was responsible for leading a six-member staff team, partnering with a 16-member Board of Directors and managing a comprehensive fund development plan including annual fund, major gift, grant, special event and planned giving programs. This was her second engagement with the organization; she was also the Chief Advancement Officer for the nonprofit for eight years when she led the organization through a successful $5 million endowment campaign for the VNA Hospice House.
In 2008, Kerry took the helm of the newly established Indian River Community Foundation in Vero Beach, Florida as Executive Director. Kerry guided the organization as it expanded the Board of Directors from five to 15 members and developed its infrastructure, policies and procedures. Under her leadership, the fledgling organization grew its philanthropic assets from zero to $30 million as of December 2014.
Prior to joining the Indian River Community Foundation, Kerry was Principle of The Bartlett Group, a consultant to nonprofit organizations on strategic philanthropy, fund development and Board governance. Kerry’s nonprofit career started with an 11-year stint Campaign and Communications Director for the United Way of Indian River County.
Kerry is a Certified Fund Raising Executive. In 2006, she co-founded the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Indian River, Florida Chapter and returned to the Board after a three-year hiatus. Kerry is a Board member of the Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative in Indian River County. She is also a presenter at regional, state and national conferences on a variety of charitable giving, strategic visioning and Board governance topics. In June 2019, Kerry presented at the 2019 Planet Philanthropy conference in St. Augustine, FL on the topic — Not Enough Time in the Day: Practical Tips for Building Relationships Leading to Major Gifts.

Kerry holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Relations from the University of Florida and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University. She is a native of Vero Beach, Florida and has the best job in the world being “Auntie” to her three beloved nieces — Caitlyn, Carly and Ava. She’s always planning their next adventure, which includes Rome in 2019!
