Workshop Moderator: Karen Woolfstead

After 38 years in media now Communications and Development Director at Bread of the Mighty Food Bank.

Came to Gainesville in 1975 and went on to receive a BA in Fine Art and a BS in Advertising from the University of Florida.  Started career in radio as Production Manager at WGVL-FM in 1980 which was sold and became KISS-105.  Then moved to WRUF as Production Manager when they became Rock 104 in 1982.   From there accepted a position at WCJB-TV as a commercial producer director in 1983.  Next was promoted to Program Director and soon was also over the station promotions.  Eventually took over the community service covering 17 counties as well.  Served on countless non-profit boards and committees over the years.  After 35 years at WCJB-TV joined the team at Bread of the Mighty in January 2018.

The common thread was creativity.  Each position required creative thinking.  Whether writing a single script or developing a complete multi-media campaign creativity played a critical role.  It is just as important now trying to make sure Bread of the Mighty stands out in a town filled with amazing non-profits.
